Why I Am Looking Forward to Attending A Christmas Carol
By Livia Peterson
The Milwaukee Repertory Theater presents their annual A Christmas Carol in the Pabst Theater. Alas, this year is my first time attending with the family. With that said, here are three reasons why I am excited to attend A Christmas Carol.
Number One: The holidays, especially Christmas is almost here.
Despite I haven't seen the performance yet, I am expecting the play to get me in the Christmas spirit. The holidays are a special time: families reunite and Jesus Christ is born. This is the perfect time to hang out with family and friends and be thankful, even after Thanksgiving.
Charles Dickens' novella changed the way we see and celebrate Christmas. The novella endured several adaptations, including the latest film The Man Who Invented Christmas.
Number Two: The Milwaukee Repertory Theater.
The Milwaukee Rep is easily my favorite professional regional theater company. I am almost never disappointed with their offerings. Even after A Christmas Carol, I am attending Black Pearl Sings! in the Stackner Cabaret and trying to resist to attend Animal Farm in the Quadracci Powerhouse. While I am at it, I highly recommend attending Murder for Two in the Stackner Cabaret. The point is the Milwaukee Rep provides high quality theater with affordable ticket prices to boot. To say my expectations are high for A Christmas Carol is an understatement.
Number Three: The marvelous cast.
From Deborah Staples to Kai Liebenstein, the cast is irresistible. I actually know Ms. Liebenstein from a friend of my mother. Of course, you gotta go out and support your friends. It is inevitable I will love the performance in every regard.
