Theater Review: Until The Flood
By Livia Peterson
Dael Orlandersmith portrays eight composite characters from the various backgrounds reacting to the Michael Brown shooting in Ferguson, Missouri.
As Until The Flood utilizes multimedia, the show frequently feels akin to the staged documentary rather than the complete stage production. It is obvious the production provides immense difficulty combining the cinematic art form and the theatrical art form to create a coherent show. The nonexistent character development allows little compassion and yet, the production still manages to pull all the punches and taps into the zeitgeist, largely due to Ms. Orlandersmith's poignant and layered performance.
Until The Flood allows discussions among the community and I urge you to stay during Act II, small group discussions facilitated by the Frank Zeidler Center for Public Discussion. B-
