The Museum of Wisconsin Art Announces New Location in Saint Kate Arts Hotel
By Livia Peterson
Saint Kate, Wisconsin’s first arts hotel located on 139 East Kilbourn Avenue in downtown Milwaukee, adjacent to the Milwaukee Repertory Theater and the Pabst Theater is scheduled to open during this Spring 2019. Saint Kate provides a salute to Saint Catherine, a patron saint of the artists and championed the creative process. The hotel features guestrooms, meeting space, culinary experiences, a black box theatre, and multiple gallery and exhibition spaces.
The Marcus Corporation and the Museum of Wisconsin Art (MOWA) recently announced a new affiliation, MOWA | DTN (also known as Downtown), a 1700 square foot gallery located on the first floor in Saint Kate.
MOWA’s Executive Director and CEO Laurie Winters expressed in a press release, “A collaboration of this stature between a museum and hotel is truly groundbreaking. This is unique in the museum industry”. Marcus Corporation’s President and CEO Gregory S. Marcus said, “Collaboration and community are core pillars that inspire our vision for Saint Kate. Partnering with MOWA was a natural next step to create a powerful and dynamic platform for the arts in downtown Milwaukee. What better way to help people experience art than to have one of Wisconsin’s most respected art museums right inside our hotel.”
The arts allow our souls to thrive and escape from reality. The Saint Kate Arts Hotel is bound to provide guests an unforgettable experience honoring the arts and artists.
