The Milwaukee Rep's Stackner Cabaret Social
By Livia Peterson
The Milwaukee Repertory Theater's Social Media Club is special. The Stackner Cabaret Social allowed the Social Media Club members to mingle, sip on cocktails, and share their Rep passion. The event occurred on Wednesday, September 5, 2018; a couple days prior to Joanna Murray-Smith's Songs For Nobodies debuting. It was tech week (the technical components such as set, costumes, lights, and sound are present during the rehearsals) indeed. I understand we haven't completed the 65th Anniversary Season yet and I am definitely renewing my membership for the 2019-2020 Season. I love the Rep so much, as their productions enlighten me as a human being and so much more.
Please note I will not mention my fellow friends and members last names out of respect and privacy. We met and conversed at 5pm and then, we sat to eat dinner at 6pm. I was originally seated alone and yet, one of my friends Krystal insisted we sit closer to each other and invited Darryl to join. Sara invited me to sit at the "cool kids table" and of course, I could not deny the offer. We shared some personal information and discussed when we are all attending Songs For Nobodies. I met the Media Relations Director Frances as well and of course, I adore acquainting with the Rep's marketing team slowly but surely. I enjoyed a glass of Riesling wine, crab cakes, and chocolate mousse cake. The menu remains mostly the same with a handful of added options to select from in the appetizer and entree menus.
I commenced attending Milwaukee Rep productions three years ago and as the years passed, the Rep has become near and dear to me. Yes, it is my first theater company I will attend any theatrical production. And yes, the Stackner Social reiterated the fact the theatre community is close knit. Arts marketing was my hidden passion and hence, chase the dreams. I am a writer at the core and indeed, I write some of my own marketing posts for the Rep. With that said, discover the hidden passions and never give up.
