The 89th Academy Awards Predictions

By Livia Peterson

The 89th Academy Awards weekend is finally here! Let me tell ya, “La La Land” will sweep the night away, akin to its accomplishment during the 74th Golden Globe Awards. I just witnessed the likely Best Picture victor SIX TIMES in the cinema – a modern classic, indeed.

Prior to announcing my 89th Academy Awards predictions, I will outline the predictions format – First: could win – the film that may win, but a long shot, secondly: should win – the film that deserves to win, in my perspective (please note this section may match the Academy’s opinion), thirdly: will win – the film that will win the Academy Award during the telecasted ceremony, and lastly: potential upset – the film that may upset the aforementioned winner.

Of course, the predictions are based on the precursor awards and the gut instinct. My gut instinct provides mixed results in terms of the prognosticating the Academy Awards – sometimes, it’s right on and otherwise, it miserably fails. However, I reassure you – the gut instinct boast plenty of experience in this field and thus, receives more correct than incorrect.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) annually present the Academy Awards. ABC is airing the ceremony at 7:30pm Central Time with the Red Carpet pre-show. Meanwhile, the host Jimmy Kimmel is bound to be intriguing and “La La Land” is bound to be referenced upon numerous times. Be prepared to accept the awards, “La La Land” – hope you’re ready to sweep and rightfully so.
