The 76th Golden Globe Awards: Nominations and Predictions

The 76th Golden Globe Awards: Nominations and Predictions

By Livia Peterson

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) is honoring the best in film and television tomorrow night and therefore, it is time to predict the annual Golden Globe Awards in spite the fact I’ve only seen a handful of films during 2018. I should’ve seen more films, but my gut instinct and the precursors will do. Still finding the perfect balance between film and theatre and thanks for your understanding.

Based on the precursors, it may seem A Star is Born (yes, the third remake of a tried and true narrative) may sweep the awards season. Yet, Alfonso Cuaron’s Roma is receiving accolades left and right via the critics’ associations in spite the fact it is a Netflix film. Netflix usually does not theatrically release their films during the three month time frame, but most recently they opted for theatrical releases to be considered for the awards. It is not just what the critics and audiences think, but how elderly white men respond to the films. Per usual, it is another unpredictable awards season.
