No Studios Will Present the Inaugural Dance Festival

No Studios (1037 West McKinley Avenue in downtown Milwaukee), a creative hub recently announced its inaugural Dance Festival featuring a few local dance groups. The event will take place at No Studios and Sherman Phoenix on Friday, July 19, 2019 and Saturday, July 20, 2019.

The local dance groups include Danceworks Performance MKE, Ton Ko-Thi Children's Performing Ensemble, The Milwaukee Irish Dance Company, Signature Dance Company, Water Street Dance Milwaukee, and WoLF Studios. Furthermore, the New York City based Ailey II, the second company of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater is scheduled to perform two pieces during the event.

The co-founder and filmmaker John Ridley stated in a press email, “There may not be a more complex or captivating form of self-expression than dance. With NO Studios Dance Fest, we want to celebrate dance as an art form and showcase our rich community of Milwaukee-area dancers, all while bringing an incredible performance experience to a community and neighborhood that we feel is representative of the best that Milwaukee has to offer.”

On the one hand, No Studios is scheduled to host the reception on July 19, commencing at 6:30pm. The event is free and open to the public and provides an opportunity to meet dancers performing on Saturday, including the Ailey II dancers. On the other hand, Sherman Phoenix (3536 West Fond du Lac Avenue) is scheduled to host the performances on July 20, commencing at 6pm. The tickets are $5-$25 and can be purchased here.
