I grew up watching many films and attending one live theatrical production every year. I was taught to appreciate the arts at a young age and in consequence, my arts appreciation never faded into adulthood.
I've always loved writing and that's what opened the door to film criticism. Yet, I did not realize marketing piqued my interest until at least three years ago. My parents worked in marketing and advertising, so that would explain why.
I am friends with two CinemaScore pollsters. CinemaScore polls movie audiences every opening night, particularly films in wide release. At one point, I tried to work with CinemaScore and alas, it was not meant to be.
I completed the Introduction to Theatre and Introduction to Business classes and both classes allowed me to realize I love theatre very much and the marketing section is the best part.
I was determined to combine my love for film or theatre and marketing at some point. I discovered the Milwaukee Repertory Theater Social Media Club and of course, immediately applied. In the meantime, I attended most of the 2017-2018 Season to enjoy the productions. By the end of the season, I was promoting the productions. Despite it is an unpaid volunteer position, one's passion will take you places. Patience and determination will open doors. Never give up.
Thank you to the Milwaukee Rep.
